The Reason Why Online Conversions Don't Increase

There is really no secret to increasing the conversion rates on your website.

You, of course, have to have testing tools and a strategy that you follow. But really, it is a matter of starting and paying attention to what is happening on the website. And sticking to your marketing strategy until you know it is working or not.

It is very simple. Before you can convert you have to get people to the site.

The biggest problem for most people is just getting traffic. After getting traffic then it is a matter of converting that traffic to sales. That's it...the whole process layed out.

For some reason, the idea "taking the required time" seems to be a difficult task for some to grasp. I have pondered this question for over a year. "Why it is so hard for some to optimize and increase their website conversions."

I conclude that the reason is TIME. We all want answers now. And sales now. And results now. Testing and optimizing is not a NOW activity.

Most are not disciplined enough to take their time and start an experiment and follow it through to a logical verified conclusion.

It is hard to face the fact that it you don't have alot of traffic it is going to take a long time to get any good results from any of your testing. To face the fact of "no traffic to my site" points to a problem that most people don't want to deal with. That question is "How do I really get good, quality traffic to my site?"

For example, I have an experiment that has been running for the over a year now. I have been monitoring and checking and tweaking one experiment for over a year. But in that year, I have perfected an online marketing strategy, honed in on traffic sources that work, developed criteria for the selection of products to market and understand all of the numbers concerning this particular market niche. A year of gathering data may be what is required for you to become a success in your online business. Too many times I have seen a person start a project and then get side tracked by the newest tool or seminar or technique. Start something and then finish it or decide to stop that activity. Don't just leave it undone.

So slow down and take your time, take careful notes and pay attention to your market and don't get caught up in the marketing that is going on around you. Learn your market and you will increase your conversion rates. Act with what you learn and you can dominate your marketplace.

I can guarantee that if you concentrate on learning how your customers are buying your product and service via your online channel and track what is working and not working. In a few months (and yes I did say a few months) you will have a steady stream of income that you can't stop even if you wanted to. I say this become I have created such a situation and you can too.

So that is the "secret" to Increasing Your Online Conversions.

Test, test, test and then you will know something. Act with what you know and you will create the conversion that you are looking for...It just may not instantaneously.

Dear David:

In this article you point out two significant criteria for online testing: time and focus.

Yes, we all want results now, not later not in a year. But the reality is: just like you, anyone who believes in testing must allot some time to see the testing bring about reliable data.

I am at that stage too where I am creating webcopy, changing headlines, and buying traffic from different sources, and...waiting to see the reaction of the readers to each type of change.

I believe focus is important, too. There is that big noise online:thousands of programs and seminars that promise us, marketers, to show us how to market better if only we would come to this seminar, buy this book, join this program.

I think it logical to want a shorter learning curve. However, by following every new guru, who has just discovered the secret to Internet Riches, online marketers become scattered. They lose their focus and abandon their projects.

Good job.
Thank you for reminding us.
You must be a big fan of Claude Hopkins. Are you?

Hi Paul:

Thanks for the comments.

As you can see there are more than enough tools out there to handle the testing of websites.

Much of the information is what to do.

But not much on "how to do it..."

Because of how and who have taught me and my background the "how to do" is obvious to me.

Yes, I am a fan of the old marketing masters like Claude Hopkins and John Caples. If we can learn anything from them, it is time and focus will win over "quick and fleeting results" all the time.

Again thanks for the comment...
