Noise In Your Test

Using the taguchi method for advertising can be tricky. You have you to be aware of what is going to affect your ad. At any time, something can go on in the environment and quickly erode you ads or produce misleading data. This is my attempt to get you to look closely at your ad testing and marketing practices.

Let's start from the beginning...

Noise factors are defined as those things that are too hard to control or too expensive to control. The day of the week is a noise factor. No matter what you do there is nothing that you can do about the day of the week.

Noise is what can mess up your ad optimization and testing. It is always present. The trick is to be aware of it and make sure that you isolate your test from as much noise as possible.

You can change a noise factor into a success factor just by taking the time to look at your test and make sure that you are paying attention.

For instance, if you are monitoring the days of the week, the days of the week become a success factor that you can monitor and optimize to increase your results.

The key here is to pay attention and make sure that you have an idea as to what is affecting your ad.

More on this later...
